On September 26, 2013, Just a day before Google was officially turning 15 years old (though the company was incorporated few weeks earlier), Amit Singhal, Google’s senior VP has announced a big change in a press event. He announced that Google has rolled out a new search formula called “Hummingbird”.
The announcement of new search forum was made at an event that was held in the Garage in California, where two visionaries Larry Page and Sergey Brin started the company 15 years ago.
Despite of few questions from reports also, Google didn’t give more details about how Hummingbird is actually working. But it was confirmed that this search formula is meant to understand the long sentences, instead of just keywords.
In the age of smartphone and Google voice recognition technology, users are increasingly submitting search queries in sequences of spoken sentences that resemble an ongoing conversation so this step was very important.
It was surprising to know that this has affects about 90 percent of searches worldwide.
