After Google Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates, website owners are taking extra precautions while they choose SEO Company for their website promotion. It’s a good sign that website owners are getting aware about SEO, and how it works (Thank God, this has lessen our extra burned of making clients aware about SEO and Search Engine Algorithm).
But many clients who had their hands burnt (Hitted) in Google’s recent updates are now quite skeptic on how to get their website back in search engine rankings or more worse if website can get back or not?
After I started my new business some months back, I have started getting some inquiries from clients who were badly hitted in Google’s Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird update; and now they are quite concerned while assigning web promotion work. That is quite obvious but what isn’t obvious is, they are very confident that Google penalty cannot be lifted and so want to start with new domain. Wait…. why can’t penalty be lifted?
If you make a mistake in past, don’t you have right to do good now? Of course you have, unless you have tried and fix the wrong part! And Google too understand this. If you go back, fix wrong things and start doing good things, you can bounce back in rankings.
My main question always remain that how do you know that you’ve got penalty? All they have to say is we lost rankings from xx position to xx positions. No, with just this you cannot confirm that it’s a penalty. There are 2 reasons why you can lose your search engine rankings.
1. Algorithm Changes: Google keeps on making tweaks to their algorithm, they make tweaks to the algorithm hundreds of time in a year, including some small and big updates. If your website has lost rankings due to Algorithmic changes then you should understand new factors in the algorithm and start working on them to bounce back.
2. Manual Penalty: Google also has a manual SPAM checking team who may have given manual penalty to a website. This is bit critical. If you think some manual action is taken then you can send reconsideration request from Google Webmaster Tool and Google will let you know if they have taken any manual action against your website or not. If they confirm that manual action has been taken then start analyzing issues in your website and act to resolve them. Once done, you can again send reconsideration request with your comments and you might bounce back.
If you do bad you’ll get penalty and if you do good you’ll surely be appreciated, regardless of how much authority website you have.
Let me give you an example, Even Google’s own Product – Chrome page got penalty for buying Paid Links. And as a result, Chrome page was Not Ranking for around 60 days for its main keyword “Browser”. But later they fixed the issue and they got back into rankings.
Here is screenshot of why Google Chrome page was penalized. The keyword, “This post is sponsored by Google” was showing lots of pages written apparently as part of a Google marketing campaign:
If Chrome, being Google own product can make mistake why can’t we? and again if they can bounce back, why can’t we? If it took 60 days for Google Chrome to recover, it would take bit more for us but we surely can. So be patient for the lagging time.
If you are hitted and want to bounce back then take below steps:
Spare time while choosing right SEO consultants, if you want to save your time later for revoking penalties.
